Summer Timber Framing Courses

July 7–25, 2025 & August 4-22, 2025

Join us for an unforgettable three weeks. Students will learn the basics of timber framing, craft a new build, and attend lectures on the history and value of traditional building.

Reclaim the lost tradition of the timeless way of building, beginning with traditional carpentry. This is our patrimony: a precious gift developed and refined over thousands of years. Come join us at the workbench of St. Joseph as he teaches us how to construct buildings for the flourishing of our communities and the praise and glory of God.

What you will learn:

  • How to craft a traditional timber framed building.

    • Use, sharpen, and maintain the tools of the trade.

    • Read plans and lay out timbers using the square rule method.

    • Practice cutting joinery using traditional hand tools and modern power tools.

    • Take part in a timber frame raising.

  • A basic understanding of the theory and history of traditional building.

    • The difference between traditional and modernist building paradigms.

    • How did the world get so ugly?

    • Discussions on craftsmanship, patterns for designing buildings and villages, a Catholic response to the problems of the modern built world, and more.

  • Labor as Gift - How to be a worker in the model of St. Joseph.

The Instructor

Adam Robezzoli

After graduating in 2005 with a degree in theology and philosophy from Franciscan University, Adam began a career in technology and entertainment that spanned 17 years. After endless prayers begging St. Joseph to teach him a family-centered trade he could pass on to his sons, he was able to study at the Timber Framers Guild school and become a timber framer in Steubenville, OH. Adam currently teaches the theory and practice of traditional building at the College of St. Joseph the Worker. It’s his profound joy to have his eldest son work alongside him as an assistant timber framer.
