Accommodations

The College of St. Joseph the Worker does not receive State or Federal funding, and is thus not subject to the statutes and regulations governing accommodations for students with disabilities. Nevertheless, as a Catholic college, we seek to live up to what Christ reveals about the dignity of the human person. Each person has an inherent dignity that derives from his or her relationship to God our Father, who loves each of us as a son or daughter. It is, therefore, natural and fitting that we as Christians should love every person and support them as they strive to grow in humanity, virtue, and grace.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply for admission to the College. Where reasonable, the College will make an effort to accommodate an individual's disability, whether physical or intellectual. However, due to the heavy emphasis on hands-on learning, if an individual’s physical disability prevents them from completing the essential requirements of the hands-on elements of the College’s curriculum, or, in the discretion of the College, creates a safety concern to the individual or others, the individual may not be admitted to the College.

In order to have a disability considered for accommodation, the individual should contact the VP of Enrollment, [accommodations@collegeofstjoseph.com]. At that time, a confidential disability disclosure form will be provided to be filled out and returned by the individual. Accompanying the disclosure, the individual must submit proof of diagnosis from a treating medical provider via official medical documentation. Test-taking accommodation requests must be made at the beginning of the academic quarter, within the first week of classes (also submitted to the VP of Enrollment).
